Maize Detention Pond

In 2004, a detention pond was build to help lessen flooding on the north side of the city. In 2005, the Maize Tree Board decided to concentrate on planting trees and bushes around the pond. Several –‘2-4’ seedlings such as Cedar & Austrian Pines, some purchased by the board, others donated by Prairie Pines Tree Farm and several other plants donated by Woodard Mercantile were planted. Future plans include building a walking path around the pond.
