Council Member Donna Clasen
Donna Clasen has been in the Maize community for over thirty-six years and a Maize resident for over twenty years. In addition to serving on the Maize USD 266 Board of Education for twelve years and the Maize City Council for nine years, she has been a member of the Planning Commission, the Tree Board, the Maize USD 266 Facility Needs Committee, the Bond Steering Committee, and the Alternative High School Committee.
During her tenure on the City Council, Donna has contributed to decisions that installed a water system, improved city streets, annexed 4 miles, addressed major drainage projects, established Wichita State University West Campus, supported various development projects, opened communication with USD 266, and established police coverage 24/7. Donna says the progress the city has experienced in recent years has occurred because of thoughtful goal setting, strategic planning, and hiring an experienced, qualified city administrator who assembled an excellent, team-oriented staff.
In Donna’s professional life, her experience in accounting and computer operations brings expertise to the realm of her public service. She has demonstrated proven leadership skills including managing, developing and motivating others to achieve objectives. As a council member as in her career, she is dedicated to maintaining high quality standards, continuing improvement and emphasizing bottom-line objectives.
Quality of life is very important to Donna and currently she is involved with establishing a Maize Park Advisory Board. She continually seeks ways to improve the appearance of Maize’s proper and she supports building a new City Hall Complex so today’s citizens have the best for generations to come.
Donna attended Butler County Community College and Wichita State University as well as numerous seminars and training related to her profession. She is the proud mother of four married children; son, Carl and daughters, Kristine, Karla and Janet.
Donna’s dedication and belief that “Failing to Plan is Planning to Fail”, coupled with the Maize Mission Statement will lead Maize to become the “Best Small City in Kansas”.
